The open-pit mine of Stoilensky, the second largest producer of iron ore concentrate in Russia, has launched a pilot project to implement a personnel positioning system. The system will improve the safety of open pit mining, as it will enable timely response to emergency situations through monitoring and analyzing the personnel's actions and equipment operation.
Stoilensky, the second largest producer of iron ore concentrate in Russia, has signed a development contract with the Finnish company Outotec to increase the pelletizing plant's installed capacity by a third - from 6 m t to 8 m t of pellets per year. Under the contract, Outotec experts will design, supply main equipment and automation systems, and provide consulting support during installation and commissioning of the equipment.
NLMK Group, a global steel company, has embarked on the construction of an additional beneficiation section at Stoilensky. Three new grinding lines (vertical mills) will enable the company to increase its concentrate output from 17.5 mtpa to 20 mtpa and to increase its ore processing capacity from 37 mt to 42 mt by 2020, thus increasing the production of iron ore raw materials for NLMK by 14%.
Stoilensky has produced its ten-millionth tonne of pellets at its pelletizing plant, one of the largest in Europe. Launched in November 2016, the pelletizing plant was able to reach design capacity of 6 million tonnes of pellets per year in 6 months and continues to go from strength to strength.
Stoilensky, the main resource base for NLMK Group, an international steel company, has begun the mining of quartzites on the southern bank of the Stoilensky deposit. The development of this site and the overall expansion of mining operations will enable a 10% increase in production output year-on-year to 38 million tonnes in 2018 and will cover NLMK Group’s growing needs in iron ore.
Stoilensky, part of NLMK Group, an international steel company with operations in Russia, the European Union and the USA, produced its six-millionth tonne of pellets in the lead up to new year.
